NEXUS
Interactive light and sound installation as part of the Klanglicht Festival Graz
HOW CAN AN ABSTRACT IDEA BE EXPERIENCED SPATIALLY AND VISUALLY?
ROLE
Concept, lighting design, construction
FOCUS
Narrative, spatial installation, interdisciplinary collaboration

The Project
As part of the Klanglicht Festival 2024, the goal was to develop an immersive installation around the overarching theme “SPECTRUM”, combining light and sound into a cohesive experience.
The challenge was to translate an abstract concept into a spatial experience that could be physically and visually perceived.
Concept & Idea
The project is based on the contrast between good and evil as two interdependent forces.
The installation guides the audience through a progression:
DOMINANCE OF EVIL
CONFLICT
UNION OF BOTH FORCES
The goal was to make this dynamic tangible through light, movement, and sound.

LIGHT
as the main medium to express tension and dynamics
SOUND
as an emotional amplifier
SPACE
as an integral part of the experience
Technical Implementation
56 LED rods formed the foundation of the visual setup.
Development of the light sequences in Adobe After Effects.
Synchronization with a custom-composed soundscape.
Adaptation of the show to the spatial conditions on site.
Construction & Space
DESIGN OF AN ALUMINUM STRUCTURE TO MOUNT THE LED RODS

ON-SITE ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT OF THE STRUCTURE

CONSIDERATION OF SPATIAL IMPACT AND VIEWING PERSPECTIVES

Result
Nexus combined light, sound, and space into an immersive installation that guided visitors through a narrative experience.
The combination of artistic concept and technical execution created a strong visual and emotional impact.
