The website combines all important information about the UEFA EURO 2024 in Berlin in a clearly structured and visually appealing design. The integration of barrier-free functions and multilingual implementation appeals to a broad target group, making the platform an important point of contact for international soccer fans.

About the project
For the UEFA EURO 2024, we at Connex Berlin have developed the official website for the Host City Berlin. This platform serves as a central point of contact for fans and visitors who want to find out about the six matches taking place in Berlin - including the grand final in the Olympic Stadium - as well as events and activities in the city. Together with Berlin Partner and the Berlin Senate Office for the Interior and Sport, a website was created that meets the international requirements of soccer fans and is impressive in terms of both content and technology.
Project scope
The entire project, from the conception of the user interface to the technical implementation, was supervised by Connex. My specific focus was on the UI design, which ensured user-friendliness and optimally implemented the CI specifications. In close collaboration with the UX team, this resulted in a user-friendly and visually appealing website that focuses on the needs of Berlin soccer fans.
The website was designed in line with Berlin Partner's corporate identity to ensure visual consistency with the city's other websites. Despite this adaptation, the design remains dynamic and modern, in keeping with the sporting occasion and the international attention that UEFA EURO 2024 is attracting.
Color palette
In close consultation with the project partners, we intentionally opted for bold, vibrant colors that reflect the enthusiasm surrounding UEFA EURO 2024. Pastel shades were avoided in order to create a high-contrast and energetic design that attracts attention, particularly among the diverse target groups, while also supporting accessibility.
Accessibility
A key aim of the website was to make it accessible and barrier-free. To achieve this, we worked closely with the Berlin Competence Center for Digital Accessibility. The result is a website that can be translated into plain language at the click of a button and is available in four different languages. A direct link to UEFA's accessible calendar ensures a seamless user experience that includes all fans, regardless of their needs.
Outcomes
The Host City Berlin website brings together all relevant information on the UEFA EURO 2024 and also offers insights into events, sustainability programs and other activities related to the tournament. With its clear design and barrier-free structure, it is a powerful tool for international fans and visitors. Further details and the website itself can be found here.
